Drizzles – 16 Strawberry Street
Tucked away on Strawberry Street, Drizzles isn’t quite new, but this distinctive “tasting shop” has recently reopened under completely new management. It’s worth seeking out, as the friendly, knowledgeable owners, Michele Molina and Laura Weigand, offer many new, hand-selected, and carefully crafted items. You’ll find a wide variety of olive oils, balsamic vinegars, sea salts, peppercorns, locally roasted coffee, local honey, gourmet gift baskets, specialty soaps, and so much more. Most of their items are fresh and available for tasting. (Note: If nothing else, you should definitely try the coconut balsamic vinegar.) And while the multitude of flavors tantalize your tongue, your eyes get to feast on delightful artwork created by local Eastern Shore artists. They have lovely pottery and several pieces from MichMoArt, handcrafted by Michele herself. Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift or interested in adding the finest flavorings to your delicious home-cooked meals, Drizzles will whisk you away to another world of gastronomy where rare, artisanal ingredients are within easy reach.

Cowlick’s Creamery – 228 Mason Avenue
If you love frozen custard, Cowlick’s Creamery is a must. They make their smooth, creamy custard fresh, on-site, every day. The flavors change daily and are posted on a large menu board outside the entrance. Inside, you’ll find that their quaint shop has a mom-and-pop feel to it, but with an updated, rustic look that fits in perfectly with the locale. They offer delicious scoops, sugar cones, waffle cones, swirls, sundaes, milkshakes, cow cakes, and a plethora of toppings. But what are cow cakes, you ask? They’re traditional, mini Dutch pancakes topped with powdered sugar and your choice of fudge, caramel, or maple syrup and a scoop of their delicious frozen custard. Try it for yourself, and don’t forget to take a selfie while enjoying your treat in their cute “cow seat” located inside.

Eastern Shore Popcorn Company – 227 Mason Avenue
Popcorn lovers unite. Eastern Shore Popcorn Company is a new, small-batch gourmet popcorn shop that’s worth a visit. They offer a variety of popping corn as well as several popcorn seasonings, including Apple Cinnamon, Bleu Cheese Buffalo, Truffle Parmesan, Pizza, S’Mores, and Jalapeño Popper. They also recently announced the winner of their “salt tasting day.” It was local favorite, Barrier Island Salt Company’s Flake Sea Salt – a most delicious accompaniment to fresh-popped popcorn. In the store, you’ll find many other interesting items like popcorn-themed gift baskets, caramel popcorn soy candles, fanciful gifts, artwork, and more.

K-Coast Surf Shop – 211 Mason Avenue
K-Coast Surf Shop is an Ocean City, Maryland, favorite that recently expanded to its newest location here in Cape Charles. Their growth isn’t surprising, considering how they gladly support anyone who enjoys surf culture and the incredible experiences that make it unique. The shop prides itself on stocking only the best boards, clothing, beach gear, and accessories. You’ll find quality shirts, hats, shorts, hoodies, sandals, shoes, sunglasses, and more – all from brands you love, like Billabong, Rainbow, Sun Bum, O’Neil, and plenty others. They also carry a variety of stand-up paddleboards and skateboards. The Cape Charles store exclusively offers K-Coast shirts with fun Cape Charles designs. So, whenever you’re ready to infuse a happy ocean vibe into your life, head to K-Coast Surf Shop. No doubt, you’ll walk away content.

Cravings Cape Charles – 223 Mason Avenue
Opened by Margaret and Matt Heilman this past summer, Cravings Cape Charles has quickly proven itself as a grand success. They make incredibly delicious grab-and-go cuisine that includes sandwiches, salads, soups, pizzas, take-n-bake meals, desserts, and more. Everything is made from scratch in-house, including their sauces, sides, and fresh-baked breads. It’s obvious that they use only top-notch, fresh ingredients and put a tremendous amount of love, thought, and care into their culinary creations. Note that to get to Cravings, you’ll have to meander through the Table and Tonic store first, which is a fantastic shopping experience by itself. But avoid dawdling there too long, as Cravings often sells out of their small-batch cuisine fast. See their online menu and stop by soon – the earlier, the better.
